Frankston is a substantial city which has become part of metropolitan Melbourne. Located at the northern end of the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston boasts numerous beaches, a pier and all manner of aquatic opportunities. Kanahook Creek is another attractive element of Frankston's foreshore area. This ocean frontage has made Frankston a desirable commuter suburb. There are a number of galleries in Frankston and flora reserves in the vicinity. Ballan Park Homestead (1847-54) is open to visitors. The Oaks Bed-and-Breakfast is adjacent the Frankston Botanic Gardens.
