Description of Rye

Rye is picturesquely situated on the northern shore of the Mornington Peninsula, fronting Port Phillip Bay. Essentially suburban in character Rye has a fine foreshore area which features a reconstructed limeburners' kiln, a pier, a playground and rotunda, barbecue facilities, and a shallow sandy safe beach which is good for sailboarding. Due south is Rye Back Beach on Bass Strait. Sandy Rd provides access to St Andrews Beach and Gunnamatta Beach. Cape Schanck and Mornington Peninsula National Park are highly scenic areas to the south-east of Rye. Visitors to the Peninsula can enjoy some fine holiday accommodation in Rye.
