Located on the southern shore of the Shoalhaven River, Nowra is a major centre which serves as a good base for exploring the attractions of the Shoalhaven Region. These include river tours, Nowra Animal Park, Bundanon (1866) which was formerly the home and studio of noted painter Arthur Boyd, Cambewarra Village, several wineries in the Nowra area, Comerong Island, Shoalhaven Camellia Gardens, some fine walking tracks and the popular coastal localities of Greenwell Point, Orient Point, Crookhaven and Culburra.
