Bolwarra is located 203 km north of Sydney and 3 km north of Maitland. Bolwarra and Bolwarra Heights are positioned at the western edge of the area known as Paterson's Plains. The first permanent settlers in the Bolwarra area were 12 ex-convicts who were authorised to settle in 1818. Today Bolwarra is ideally located near the historic villages of Largs, Morpeth, Hinton and Maitland. Bolwarra is also an ideal accommodation destination for people wanting to explore the vineyards and wineries of the Hunter Valley.
