Grenfell is an interesting and historically significant town. Henry Lawson was born on the nearby goldfields at Emu Creek and famous bushranger Ben Hall was born to the west of Grenfell. It is possible to visit the cave in the nearby Weddin Mountains which Hall used as a hideout. Most of Grenfell's interesting historic buildings are concentrated in Main Street and George Street. These include the Grenfell Courthouse, Grenfell Lockup and Grenfell Historical Museum. Weddin Mountains National Park offers scenic driving, bushwalking, birdwatching and camping. Visitors can enjoy accommodation in historic Grenfell House.
