Beauty Point is a tiny township located 44 km north-west of Launceston on the West Tamar Highway. Originally the first deepwater port on the Tamar River, Beauty Point is the site of the Australian Maritime College. Although it is situated in a rich rural district the port facilities of Beauty Point lie at the heart of its economic life. Today the main appeal of Beauty Point is as a base for fishing and water sports. Visitors to Beauty Point will find some attractive bed-and-breakfast accommodation.
