Description of Ulverstone

Ulverstone is a major tourist destination on the North Coast of Tasmania. Of interest in Ulverstone are the Ulverstone Local History Museum, Braddons Lookout, which offers excellent views over both the coast and the hinterland, Turners Beach, the unusual Shrine of Remembrance Clocktower and some interesting historic buildings - the Gables House (c.1850), the very unusual ANZ bank building, Furners Hotel, Westella (1885), Lonah (1875) and the Ocean View Guest House (1903). Near Ulverstone are Gunns Plains Caves and Leven Canyon which offers interesting and pleasant bushwalks, facilities and views. Heritage accommodation is available at Ulverstone.
