Mill Road Kaikoura

Description of Kaikoura

Kaikoura is a small township on the North Island of New Zealand. Kaikoura's claim to fame is that people from around the world come to the district to inspect the wildlife. The word 'Kaikoura' means 'to eat crayfish' in Maori and, not surprisingly, the area abounds with crayfish. In fact the Kaikoura port still supports a crayfish fishing fleet. The town's major attraction is whale watching and swimming with dolphins. Kaikoura has some outstanding rural accommodation.
