Stratford is located on New Zealand's North Island some 40 km south of New Plymouth. Named after Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-on-Avon, New Zealand's Stratford's major attraction is its proximity to Mount Taranaki, a destination famous for skiing and walking. Only a kilometre south of Stratford is the Taranaki Pioneer Village, an interesting museum which includes over 50 historic buildings.
